UN Women Names Miyoko Schinner a “Vegan Revolutionary” for International Day of the Girl

Miyoko Schinner, longtime vegan activist, chef, and founder of cheese brand Miyoko’s Kitchen, is one of 30 women featured in new project The Future of Women, which launched today in celebration of International Day of the Girl. The photography-based project—backed by international organization UN Women, online retailer TechStyle Fashion Group, production company Near Future, and media brand POPSUGAR—highlights powerful women that “lead by example, challenge the status quo, and change the way we think.” Schinner is featured as a “vegan revolutionary” among dynamic female icons, including power investor at Khosla Ventures Kristina Simmons, prison reform activist Brenda Tippins, and Arab women’s rights warrior Princess Reema bint Bandar al-Salud. “Her passion for her craft and mission is unrivaled,” Schinner’s black-and-white project photo is captioned. “The publication of her groundbreaking book, Artisan Vegan Cheese, kicked off the start of the vegan cheese revolution.”
